News Comic Dish - Character Bio Week begins on May 17th - A new forum thread from bjc has users drawing expression sheets based on the forum emoticon set. - Uncaringmachine is holding a contest, the winner of which will be featured as either a hero or villain in the next issue of Captain Ahole. World - The Austin Public Library has announced the lineup for Yomicon2010, an anime and manga convention for teens in the Austin area which takes place on Friday, June 11 from 3pm-9pm at the Manchaca Road Branch, 5500 Manchaca Road. - Drawing Day 2010, an event encouraging everyone to drop everything and draw for the sake of art, takes place on June 5. (There will most likely be a forum thread here at Comic Dish for people to post their art on this day.) - AOL Small Business has an article about webcomic artists who make a living from their webcomics. - Comics Worth Reading talks about How to Make Superhero Comics Interesting Again. - Pittsburgh's cartoon art museum, The ToonSeum has teamed up with East End Brewing Company to produce a special hand-bottled beer called Illustration Ale. News: Comic Dish: - [AOD] and Hitotsumami have released the first installment of their new webcomic The Princess of Windmills. - A new forum thread from [AOD] asks: what is the "base" face that you draw when not putting any effort into it? Take a look at the ones that have been posted, and then post your own here. Narnia: - We have a bunch of "here-are-the-webcomics-I-read" lists. Here's one from geeks.co.uk, one from Eye Lazor Beams, and one from The College Voice. - The Webcomic Builder has a tutorial article about comic scripting. - Times Live has a short review of the Penny Arcade game, Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness. - Microsoft UK is holding a contest. They are asking IT professionals to share their stories about users who are less than computer-savvy. The winners are being put into a webcomic called Where's the Any Key? - Webcomics.com has partnered with offset printing company Transcontinental, who will offer webcomics.com members a 10% discount on their printing costs. - Zuda Comics is moving away from their competition format, in which users vote for which comic they like. Over the next few weeks, they will be retooling their submission process to eliminate the "accusations of cheating, confusion about the process, spamming in the the name of promotion and argumentative, dismissive or even aggressive behavior".
