Google is running a doodle contest for kids from kindergarden to grade 12 with a them of "if I could travel in time, i'd visit". Submissions are due by march 23rd and the details are available on their website
Publisher Scholastic is holding a webinar on March 7th. It's aimed at the classroom and invites teachers to let their students watch and learn how to use words and pictures to create a narrative. I'm not sure if it's limited to classrooms though; it seems to be.

- Apple recently made an announcement on education that included software to produce ibooks. Rich Stevens took initiative and made an ibook out of several comics from his effort Diesel Sweeties. It's not available in the apps store yet, so you have to download and sync it yourself. It also only currently works on the ipad.
- Something we missed out on is the Blind Date 3 event that the Webcomics Beacon is hosting. The basic details are you, as a writer or artist, get paired with an artist or writer and you have to make a comic for valentimes day. (yes I know I misspelled valentine's )
